Die Compatibility of AccuQuilt and Sizzix Explained!

Hey there! When I initially got my AccuQuilt and Sizzix machines, figuring out the die compatibility was quite a puzzle! But after understanding the essentials about die sizes and adapters, things became clearer. Let’s dive into the specifics of whether you can interchange dies between these two brands!

Unlocking the Mystery: AccuQuilt vs. Sizzix Die Compatibility Guide

Introducing AccuQuilt Machines

There are several home-use AccuQuilt machines like the Go! Me (also known as Go! Baby), Go!, and Go! Big, which can be categorized by the increasing size of the opening. They are designed for AccuQuilt Go!® dies.

Now, the AccuQuilt Studio 2 is their largest offering, and it’s tailored for Studio dies. Remember, because Studio dies are thicker than the Go! dies, you can’t fit them in a Go! Me, Go!, or Go! Big machine. Yet, there are Go! Die adapters available which allow you to use Go! dies with the Studio 2.

A Look at Sizzix Machines

For those who are new to the Sizzix world, the key players are the Sizzix Sidekick, Sizzix Big Shot, and the Sizzix Big Shot Plus. These vary based on the size of their openings. They primarily work with Sizzix Bigz® dies to cut fabric. ✂️

The Sizzix Big Shot Pro is a more industrial machine. To use the Sizzix Bigz dies with it, you’d need a special adapter pad.

Die Compatibility Queries

Question: Can you fit Sizzix dies into the AccuQuilt Go!?
Answer: Unfortunately, the thickness of the Sizzix Bigz fabric dies prevents them from fitting into the AccuQuilt Go! Me, Go!, or Go! Big machines. So, no dice there!

Question: What about AccuQuilt Go! dies in a Sizzix Big Shot Plus machine?
Answer: Yes, but with some conditions! AccuQuilt Go! dies are specifically compatible with the Sizzix Big Shot Plus. To ensure proper cutting, you’d have to utilize the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Adapter G (or a similar one). For a perfect cut, start with the Sizzix cutting plate, introduce Adapter G, position the AccuQuilt die and fabric, and crown it with another Sizzix cutting plate. Voilà!

But do note that not all AccuQuilt Go! dies are suited for the Sizzix Big Shot Plus due to size constraints. For instance, the 10″x10″ clamshell from my AccuQuilt Go! is a tad too large for the Sizzix. But sizes like 5″ x 10″, 6″ x 6″, 6″ x 12″, and 6″ x 24″ should fit well. If you’re using a longer die, you might need some adjustments on the Sizzix end.

There’s more! Although you can use Go! dies on the Big Shot Plus, using AccuQuilt Studio dies on the Sizzix Big Shot Plus is a no-go. As for the Sizzix Big Shot Pro, you can use both AccuQuilt Studio dies and AccuQuilt Go! dies, provided they fit the 13″ width.
