Embroidery Apps: Luna’s Recommendations!
Hey there, it’s Luna! Before I got my hands on the Brother Luminaire XP2, the world of embroidery apps was unknown to me. Imagine my delight when I realized it integrated seamlessly with a couple of Brother’s apps. Intrigued, I ventured deeper and gathered some of the top free embroidery apps available for different devices.
After experimenting with numerous apps, here are my personal faves. Just a heads-up: always download trustworthy apps with decent reviews, and steer clear of the shady-looking ones with no feedback.
1. StitchBuddy HD
This one’s for the Apple crowd. StitchBuddy lets you preview and tweak embroidery designs. Its editing capabilities are powerful, allowing users to control individual stitch levels, print templates, and convert designs. But remember, it isn’t meant for creating or autodigitizing designs from scratch.
2. Bernina App
A handy tool even if you don’t own a Bernina machine. The highlight? Their WeAllSew blog which regularly dishes out sewing and embroidery tutorials. A perfect way to gather fresh inspiration!
3. Embroidery Viewer by Embroidermodder
Developed by the Embroidermodder team, this app helps preview design files and provides essential statistics about them. Their next release, Embroidermodder 2, is something I’m eagerly awaiting!
4. PRO Digitizing
Exclusive to iOS, it’s not just for digitizing but also lets you access free embroidery designs. A win-win!
5. Spark Embroidery Digitizing App
While it’s free for the first week, Spark offers different levels of digitizing, from basic editing to more advanced features like AutoCross and PhotoStitch.
6. Creative Machine Embroidery
Subscribe and get the magazine right on your device. For those who haven’t subscribed, there are still a bunch of articles and tutorials to explore.
7. Stitch View Convert & 8. Stitch Viewer Free
These apps focus on viewing and converting embroidery designs. However, compatibility might vary across devices, so always check before downloading.
9. Schmetz Needle App
An essential guide for understanding Schmetz needles. The color-coding feature is a savior when you forget which needle you’ve mounted on your machine!

If you own a top-tier embroidery machine, there’s likely an app out there designed just for it!
